I don’t think they deliberately make the presets lame – they want you to try the demos and buy, so it’s in their interests to make the presets sound good. I just don’t think they reflect the way real mastering engineers use them – not me, anyway.Definitely every piece of audio needs different settings, but actually I have a standard “default setting” that I use as a kicking-of point, and I tweak it less often than you imagine.
