Dragon Age Origins Male Hair Mods

Posted on  by admin

.Okay friends, as I’ve mentioned these get updated when I find out something new or a better way. Something glaringly simple slipped by me, so if you’ll excuse me while I hide in shame behind the couch to make this post, let’s take an updated look at an easier way of using More Hairstyles in the Toolset. I’ve also included how I got the Witcher Hairstyles to work.

That may not be necessary, but if you need a work-around with that mod, it’s something you can test. For more information, more tutorials, and any advice I can offer using the Toolset Or click on the link to your right which says Tutorials. So far I only have the human males done, but if you want a visual reference in.rtf form with pictures and the names of the hair you can. For those who don’t recognize the format, an.rtf file should be something you can open with Windows (just by default clicking on it), Word, Wordperfect, OpenOffice and many other programs. Eventually, I’ll have the other races and sexes done, but right now all I’ve got is Alistair gamely modeling the various styles.Instructions are for Win XP and may vary for Vista or Win 7.There may be an easier way of doing all of this, but it’s what I found worked for me. If I ever do learn an easier way, I’ll update my tutorial. There are actually two ways of doing this, and I’ll show you both.If you’d like to add some extra hairstyles to your Dragon Age characters, I suggest if you don’t have it. Which has custom armor, weapons, and some more custom hair. There are 2 more hair mods, as well, but I haven’t had time to test them, yet. When I do, I’ll update. These mods were not made by me.These WILL both work with the basic character creator in the game and you don’t have to use them with the Toolset.

HOWEVER – if it isn’t working, the most common problem is several Mods share a file and it causes a conflict. If you’re happy doing that, then you can close this tutorial and go play Dragon Age.Tip: You may not be able to access all the hair styles through the in-game Character Generator. There’s a folder called Unique which features some very interesting styles with hair and jewelry. It also contains the 2 Don’t Worry Be Hairy styles for human females. (This may have changed with the updated version.)If you’re using the DA Toolset, read on.If you need help creating a head morph I have a tutorial up and there are many others out on the web. Here’s mine:You’ll need your.mrh file. Either open a head you already made and needs different hair, or make a new one.Tip: Choose your hair color before you start using the More Hairstyles. You’ll see why below.Back this file up, just in case.I’m not going anywhere. I have a snack, so take your time.Welcome back. Now, you should have something on your screen with your character and some standard hair.NOTE: All images are thumbnails.

Dao Hair Mods

Origins

Click on them to get a full sized view.Method One:This method is done completely in the DA Toolset. This might be easier for you or it might be more difficult. I use both, depending on what other effects I use in the Toolset, so you’ll probably want to at least read both.Go to:-Part Selection-5.

Hair-Click (or double click if it requires you to) the area next to “Hair”-Click on the three Now here is what I see:Update: You can actually access the More Hairstyles from this window. Click on the filter and select the line beneath the default. Now you’ll see all the possibilities listed. You’ll want the names which end in 0 where applicable.I don’t know if other people will have this problem, but I had to copy and paste the Witcher files.I downloaded the file Aesthetics – Override (very bottom of the page) for Toolset use.I unzipped it then went to:– Addins– ibraeswitch– core– override– meshesI opened the meshes folder, and copied everything in it. I then pasted it into the More Hairstyles folder which was in my regular override folder.Normally located in:– Your Documents and Settings– Your name– My Documents– BioWare– Dragon Age– packages– core– override(Note that I also followed all the author’s instructions on how to install the mod. The hair never showed up for me – it might for you.

Male Body Hair

Edited 10-18-10Added some More Hairstyles to the group. Initially I created those as nothing but a reference of what the styles were for human males, but tossed a few into my Big Group O’ Alistair Morphs.People have been hitting my blog looking for simple changes to Alistair like new eye or hair colors. One lazy Sunday afternoon, I expanded my generic morphs in case people want something simple like that without having to the headaches of understanding the Toolset to do it.There are 53 ready made head morphs for Alistair in a variety of different hairstyles and with new eye colors at this link:Picture Gallery (these are thumbnails, so click on them to see a larger version.)And here is the story behind them.Well, it was inevitable.

Take a portrait artist and turn them loose with something as much fun as the DA Toolset and there will be mischief! The truth is, I adore the characters in the game with one exception. I don’t mind how they look, either.

Dragon Age Origins Armor Mod

I’ve seen different people out there who have revamped their favorites and offered the changes to the public, but if they’re changed too much, I feel like I’m talking to a stranger who happens to sound like the original.Someone in the community offered a different Alistair “morph” which I was partial to, but they changed his eye color and darkened his hair too much for me. The problem is, as much as I came to love the guy, I was never too keen on his hair. He’ll probably kill me since he has that whole “minor obsession with my hair just a prince thing” going on, but alas, I hated that style. You won’t catch any of my male Wardens wearing it, either. This also tied into the fan fiction I’m writing, as time does progress in that game. I don’t remember if Wynne tells it to all the Wardens or just the Mages, but she mentions it’s been about a year since they left home. So you have to wonder why nobody ever needs a hair cut, the men never have to shave, and the women wake up refreshed and gorgeous in their make-up each day. This is in spite of being splattered with gobbets of gore that your dog can slurp off your face for a snack.Ferelden make up must be something elseWith that thought rolling around my head, I decided to make Alistair my first guinea pig.

I began to let his hair and beard “grow” until we had a young mutant Santa Claus in camp. Rumor has it Lelianna started taking up donations to get him to a Denerim barber because her sense of style and fashion was about to send her screaming back to Orlais. But seriously, these are very vanilla and simple. However, I put them out for people in case they might want to change Alistair’s look slightly.I doubt it need be said, but this will only work on the PC version of the game. Instructions are included in the file, and you can find it here.
