I don’t like the sound quality of Internal Mic in my surface Pro and it is not that great, so I buy an external microphone BeyerDynamic M58. When I plug in the mic via MIKI cable, it is detected as headphones by Windows 8. I want to use it for Skype but the new hardware is not recognized. But it works fine on my Android phone. Tap Desktop App from start screen to enter Desktop mode. Swipe in from the right to open charms bar, tap on Setting and select Control Panel. Tap on Sound and go to Recording tab.

Make sure your external mic box is checked. If you still can solve the issues, go to Device Manager and check if a driver is needed or use a headset with mic for your tablet.
